So gf was running an event, where Legacy Armor (armor that grows with your character) was easier to acquire than usual.
At least for MOST character classes, that is. I don't know the exact math, but usually, to get a legacy set, you would have to be successful on 5 straight attempts at magic alchemy.
So the first attempt is a lock, you don't fail... and the reward is something rather useless. Your choices are a) accept that reward, or b) press your luck and hope for 'No Whammies'. Well if you press your luck 4 times, (level 5 Magic Alchemy) then you would get a legacy armor set (random, 1 of 8). Well at level 2, there is a 25% chance of failure, at Level 3, it's 50%, at Level 4 its 75%, and level 5 is 87.5% chance to FAIL, but the rewards are greater, obviously.
Well the loverlies at GF modified the rules, so that the legacies were level 4 instead of 5, which is great! because now the chances of getting a legacy set are doubled. And, in point of fact, the price of these in the AH had come down significantly! instead of $1500, they were going for $750 or $900. The most highly sought after sets were $1,000 (except Pally of course!) The Paladin Legacy set was selling for approximately $3,500 before this event. I went on the AH looking, and lo and behold, i found 2 sets... for $3,500 each!!!!
So i figured, i could make my own right? I set to the alchemy fires, and an hour later, I had 3 legacy sets. 1 for Assassin, 1 for Ranger and 1 for Mage. (PLUS a really cool mount!) Eh well.. so I sold all 3 sets, and paid a little extra and purchased the Pally set for $3,500.
Somehow I feel cheated though, because had i been an Assassin, I could have sold the other two sets, and ended up with $1000 extra gold in the clear!
Pics to follow!

What? you've been waiting for an update!?!?!
Ok .. so here's the long and short of it! This is an incredible game and i've learned so much about it that i'd have to post 6 months worth of writing. But then I realized, that if i did that, the entire game would be ruined for you. So I'm level 45 now, and I just got my Legacy Armor. My little 'would be pally' is now a full fledged paladin, and she WHOMPS A$$. Next Stop, level 60, and Templar!
PS, i'll probably roll a new character and keep up with the blog this time.
Yea right, who am i kidding.

Champion of Siwa Island
So, I avoided the temptation to get on the boat and go to a new land, and ground out a few more levels so I could battle GIANT BARON. Side Note, I have a bow and arrow? Must be part of the whole "well i'm TRAINING to be a Pally, but i might change my mind" game. Bow and Arrow is awesome! Enemies are at half damage before they can even lay a glove on me. Saving on pots and resting. XP Flows, life is good. Battled Schnitzel at the top of the dragon mountain. (Giant Baron actually, but he looks like the character in Chowder!) and got my first ever Title! So several things before you leave this area on the boat.
1. Make sure you learn all skills possible at the skills trainer.
2. Make sure you've killed the boss (completion stats or something).
3. Complete all quests (Book icons on your map, or Moneybag icons if they're complete)
4. Choose your boat trip destination wisely.
A. If you're a WARR class, choose Kaslow
B. If you're a ARCH class, choose Jale
C. If you're either magic user class, choose Ilya
(Why? I don't know yet, it's just what the boat captain says to do. I'll let you know later).
Me and my sprite have had our ups and downs, and we're learning mutual respect. Hopefully, he'll stop being quite so whiney!
Anyway, off to Blue Bay!

Hmm.. Not a Pally yet!
So you don't actually start out as a Paladin. In point of fact you don't really start out as anything. Kind of a squishy little kid. Running around with a toy wooden sword whacking "jelly rabbits" Kind of a cross between a bunny and a marshmallow.
So I spent some time getting to know my pet for life and how he operates, gathering supplies and crafting gear. There's some options that i don't get yet.. alchemy... salvage... but people in game say that it will come later. We'll see.
Over all a very fun game. I've been doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, killing these for him and collecting this for her, etc. Finding decent gear off mobs. (Since when do deer run around with chain mail armor in their pockets?)
I was in the middle of a deer hunt quest, and the game told me that I couldn't advance any more until i went to talk to some dude. THEN i learned the value of the Soul Preservation Crystal. I clicked my little crystal on my SKILLS bar, and it took me all the way back to the other side of the map. I didn't have to run for 5 minutes to get there. (I did have to run all the way back to the Deer though) can't have 2 Crystals as your home point.
Anyway, So now I get it.. At level 5, is when i get to choose my path. I'm not a Pally yet, but at least I'm on the right path. I chose the path of the warrior.
I'm not really sure yet, but i guess the only thing that forced me to not change my mind about which character path i chose was my pet sprite. Since he crafts gear for Warriors, i had to choose that path, or he would have been worthless to me for EVER!
Just for fun, I went back to the character creation screen, and found that I could indeed choose to create a sprite that does nothing but gather all 3 materials instead of one who gathers 2 types and then makes stuff. If i re-roll, i'll probably choose that option.
I haven't yet been a part of a party. Just like most MMOs, I've spent all my beginning hours in the game running solo. Hope the player base here can actually play!!!
More later.

Today marks the beginning of the conquest of Grand Fantasia MMO from AeriaGames. So I've downloaded the game, installed and patched, and am ready to roll my first character. In the past, I've dabbled in WOW, and FFXI, but could never get into the idea that I needed to pay a monthly subscription to play a game I already own.
I've decided to roll a Pally since they tend to last longer. As a newbie to the game, this seems like a logical choice.
So the standard 'Lets type a name' and 'How does my character look' concepts are still in place, but now I get to choose my 'Companion for life', my pet, my Sprite. Since I want to be a Paladin, I have several choices, The most obvious ones are Axe specialist, Sword specialist, Shield specialist or Warrior Armor specialist. (Warriors can go on to become Berzerkers or Paladins) Since I don't have much to go on, I'm choosing an Armor sprite as my pet.
Click Create Character, and thus SNOCONE is born!
CHEESY intro play about how I'm going to save the world by training up my little blob of joy!
Ok, so now its off to kill stuff!!!
More to come!
